The team, from Katribu, Tanggol Magsasaka, Karapatan and Agham, arrived in Butuan City on March 10, 2025 with the aim to look into the situation of arrested Lumad leaders Michelle Campos and Genasque Enriquez.

Campos was arrested at 2 AM on March 6, 2025, while Enriquez was arrested on March 2, 2025. Campos is reportedly confined at Democrito O. Plaza Memorial Hospital in Brgy. Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, while Enriquez's whereabouts remain unknown as of this writing.

As arrested persons, Campos and Enriquez have the right to visits from family, legal counsel, health workers, and human rights workers. Their location and condition must be made public. Until Enriquez is surfaced and Campos is granted immediate access to her family and lawyers, their rights and safety remain at risk—violating the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL) and Republic Act No. 9851 or the "Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Other Crimes Against Humanity."

The legal counsel attempted to visit Michelle but was denied access. While the military confirmed that she was in the surgical ward, they prevented the counsel and paralegals from seeing her. There is no reason for Michelle to be treated as a detainee inside the hospital.

We urge all human rights defenders to stand with our call to allow the family and legal counsel unrestricted access to Michelle Campos in the hospital. Furthermore, we call for the immediate surfacing of Genasque Enriquez
